Recovery can seem like a huge, intimidating task when someone is just beginning treatment. When a person is going through legal problems, dealing with co-occurring issues, or other difficulties, it can be easy for someone to feel overwhelmed while seeking recovery. Fortunately, no one has to go through recovery alone. Freeman Recovery Center strives to always remain solution-oriented and offer all services needed for individuals in early recovery. Some of these services include Case Management, Transportation, and Employment Assistance. Through our provided services, individuals will be able to get the help needed to continue treatment and focus on recovery.

What is Case Management?

Case management is a service offered to clients to resolve any issues that may have resulted from addiction. Patients will be provided with case managers to help them navigate through issues, such as court dates, probation, homelessness, etc. Managers act as mediators between the client and any resources needed to maintain their trajectory toward a sustainable recovery. Through case management, the patient will receive encouragement to strive for goals toward bettering their situation and health.

Treatment for substance abuse is important, yet many people often do not receive the treatment needed to recover. In fact, in a 2018 study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), there were an estimated 21 million people who needed substance abuse treatment. However, only three million people received any form of treatment for substance abuse. That only goes a little above 1% of the people who need treatment. There are too few people who are actually getting the treatment they need to live a sober life. Thankfully, we are here to help.

There are many reasons why a person chooses to forgo continued treatment. Case management is meant to help with these reasons that make continuing treatment difficult to do. Everyone’s condition is not the same. Therefore, case management is catered to patients’ individual needs and concerns. When someone comes into our facility with any issues resulting from their mental health or substance abuse disorder, our case managers at Freeman Recovery Center will help every step of the way.

When is Case Management Needed?

Case management is needed for those who feel overwhelmed when planning their recovery. People who are beginning their treatment plan may not know where to start in receiving beneficial services. Often, people may not understand they need help with their mental health, disabilities, or more, in order to maintain a comfortable and stable recovery plan. There are also many people who become overwhelmed by the legal system and need guidance in attending court dates, receiving food stamps, working thorugh the Department of Child Services (DCS), etc. When patients feel alone in their endeavor to seek treatment, case management is necessary to assist in their situation.

Many individuals in recovery are involved with medical professionals, community groups, legal agencies, and the criminal justice system. When someone needs to have an intermediary who can communicate with their attorney, their doctor, or their family members, case managers are there for our patients. Case management is needed for clear and consistent communication with family or any agencies the client is in contact with. Don’t hesitate in continuing treatment because of an overwhelming situation. We will help in freeing individuals from their burdening moments as soon as possible.

How Does Case Management Work?

When clients are in need of case management, the individual will be assigned a case manager through our facility. Clients will be able to consult with their case manager on any kind of priority they will need to take care of while in recovery. From there, managers will begin the communication process and work with clients to stay on track toward resolving those priorities. As a result, patients will be able to continue treatment with the reassurance that their concerns are getting taken care of.

Services That Case Managers Provide

Our case managers are there to guide the client in whatever they need. In fact, clients will be offered a plethora of services our case managers will help clients with, such as:

  • Coordinating communication with attorneys, doctors, DCS, and other professionals or agencies
  • Facilitating appointments throughout the early stages of recovery
  • Attentive involvement with the client’s life
  • Working with the client to receive food stamps, disability benefits, or other perks.
  • Assisting in implementing healthy behavioral changes in the client’s life
  • Serving as a contact point for the family so they understand how their loved one is doing
  • Helping in creating plans of action and implementing them step-by-step

Our goal is to help each client with their situation by the time they finish recovery. However, while some of these issues may not be resolved in the three to nine months the individual is eligible to stay, they can rest assured that Freeman Recovery Center will help them create a plan to continue moving forward.

Benefits of Case Management

Case management offers many benefits to those dealing with a substance use or dual diagnosis disorder. In addition to case managers helping their clients by providing exceptional communication and service, they support their clients on an emotional and psychological level as well.
