Residential treatment at Freeman Recovery Center typically costs $5,000 to $20,000 for a 30-day stay without insurance, depending on your length of stay, whether you need medical detox first, and the level of care your treatment plan calls for. Insurance often covers a large share of that cost.

Our residential program runs at our Burns campus near Nashville, where clients live on site and receive therapies like CBT and DBT alongside dual diagnosis care. Because your stay includes housing, meals, and round-the-clock care, the price covers more than treatment hours alone, and our admissions team can break down what your plan pays before you arrive.

How Length of Stay Shapes Your Residential Treatment Cost

Residential treatment is priced by how long you stay, so the biggest factor in your total is whether your plan calls for 30, 60, or 90 days. Longer stays add to the cost of a 30-day program for each additional month of care, but they also give you more time to stabilize before returning home.

Many clients don’t spend the whole stay at the residential level. After a few weeks at our Burns campus, you may step down to PHP or IOP at our Dickson campus, which costs less per day and can make your coverage go further while keeping you in structured care. When you step down depends on your clinical progress rather than a fixed date, so the number of residential days you’re billed for follows how you’re doing in treatment.

Choosing Between a 30, 60, or 90-Day Stay

Choosing Between a 30, 60, or 90-Day Stay

A 30-day stay fits many people entering treatment for the first time who have a stable home to return to. A 60-day stay gives more time when a co-occurring mental health condition is part of your plan, and a 90-day stay is often recommended after a long history of use or a past relapse.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse reports that most people need at least three months in treatment to significantly reduce or stop their drug use. Those three months don’t all have to be residential, though. Combining a residential stay with PHP and IOP afterward can meet that timeline at a lower total rehab cost than 90 days at the residential level.

How Much Does Residential Treatment Cost Near Nashville, Tennessee?

Without insurance, a 30-day residential stay at Freeman Recovery Center typically costs $5,000 to $20,000. If you need medical detox before residential treatment begins, those days are priced separately and added to your total, so your estimate reflects both stages rather than residential care alone.

Our admissions team gives you a personalized estimate after a free insurance verification, so you see what your plan covers before you commit. If you’re paying out of pocket or have a balance left after insurance, we can walk you through how to pay for residential care with a payment plan that fits your budget.

Time away from work is part of the cost too. The Family and Medical Leave Act can protect your job for up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave while you’re in treatment if you and your employer qualify, and some short-term disability plans replace part of your income during a residential stay.

How Much Does Residential Treatment Cost With Insurance Coverage?

With insurance, residential treatment is usually billed under your plan’s inpatient behavioral health benefit, which often means a per-admission copay or coinsurance after your deductible. Plans from carriers like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, and UnitedHealthcare commonly cover a large portion of medically necessary residential care.

Most plans approve residential stays in segments rather than all at once, then review your progress to extend coverage. Under the Affordable Care Act, marketplace and most individual and small-group plans must include substance use treatment, and our admissions team keeps you informed as those reviews happen, so you know where your coverage stands throughout your stay.

What Factors Impact Inpatient Rehab Costs in Tennessee?

Where your residential cost lands depends on how complex your treatment needs are, the services built into your stay, and the setting itself. Some of these factors are clinical and set by your assessment, while others come down to the type of facility you choose.

    • Severity and type of addiction: The substances involved, how severe your dependence is, and whether you also have a co-occurring mental health condition shape your treatment plan, and more complex cases usually need more intensive care.
    • Intensity of treatment: The number of therapy sessions, specialized services, and medical check-ins built into your days can vary, and more intensive schedules cost more.
    • Medical services and staff expertise: Programs with more medical coverage and clinicians trained in approaches like EMDR cost more to run than programs with lighter staffing.
    • Facility amenities: Private rooms, upscale dining, and resort-style features can raise residential costs significantly without changing the clinical care you receive.
    • Location: Programs in large cities with a higher cost of living typically charge more than programs in smaller communities.

Freeman Recovery Center’s Burns campus sits outside Nashville, which helps keep residential costs below many city programs without cutting the medical coverage or specialized therapy your stay includes. Our admissions team can show you how each of these factors applies to your situation, so you understand exactly what’s driving your estimate before you commit to a stay.

Tennessee Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) Residential Inpatient Program

Tennessee Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD) Residential Inpatient Program

An alcohol residential inpatient program is a comprehensive treatment approach for people who struggle with alcohol addiction. You live at the treatment facility full time, which provides a focused and supportive living environment that facilitates recovery. These programs blend a variety of therapeutic methods, including medical detoxification, individual and group therapy, and other behavioral therapies such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or motivational interviewing.

The estimated cost of rehab for an alcohol use disorder inpatient program is based on factors such as the facilities location, the length of your program, and the level of luxury at the facility. For example, facilities located in rural areas are typically far less expensive than those located in large urban cities such as San Francisco and Chicago. On average, the standard program can range from $5,000 to $20,000 per month while some luxury facilities may exceed $30,000 per month. Health insurance plans typically cover a portion of these costs, but the coverage level varies based on your plans’ benefits and limitations. We encourage you to call Freeman Recovery Center at (615) 645-3677 to learn more about our treatment programs and to verify your insurance coverage.

Tennessee Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Residential Inpatient Program

Tennessee Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Residential Inpatient Program

A substance use disorder residential inpatient program provides you with an intensive and immersive treatment option when you are grappling with addiction to drugs, alcohol, or both. You live in a structured setting that provides a controlled environment to minimize your exposure to triggers and gives you 24/7 care. Programs offer a therapeutic community where you have access to medical detoxification when it’s needed, individual and group therapy, educational sessions on addiction and recovery, and strategies for relapse prevention.

The cost of an addiction inpatient program is based on factors such as amenities at the facility, length of stay, type of treatments, and location. On average, the program costs can range from $5,000 to $20,000 per month. Most health insurance plans offer some coverage level, but that is dictated by the plan’s benefits and limitations. For more information about treatment options and to verify your insurance coverage, we encourage you to call Freeman Recovery Center at (615) 645-3677 and speak with our admissions counselor.

Tennessee Dual Diagnosis Residential Inpatient Program

Tennessee Dual Diagnosis Residential Inpatient Program

Residential dual diagnosis treatment programs help individuals who have both a substance use disorder and a co-occurring mental health condition. These mental health conditions can include depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and bipolar disorder to name a few. While these are separate diagnoses, it’s crucial that your treatment center addresses them concurrently.

The average cost of behavioral health inpatient programs that address dual diagnosis depends on factors such as the length of the program, the intensity of the therapies offered, and the facilities location and amenities. On average, the price can range from $10,000 to $30,000 to provide the necessary care for this complex condition. Our admissions counselors are often asked how much does inpatient rehab cost with insurance, and the answer is it depends on your plan’s benefits and limitations. We can help establish your out-of-pocket costs and answer any questions you have about rehab when you call Freeman Recovery Center at (615) 645-3677.

Covering the Gap Between Insurance and Your Residential Bill

Even with insurance, residential treatment can leave a deductible or coinsurance to cover, and without insurance the full cost is yours. The options below can help close that gap, and our same-day admission counselors can walk you through each one.

    • Payment plans: Freeman Recovery Center offers payment plans that spread the cost of your stay over time, whether you’re paying in full yourself or covering what insurance doesn’t.
    • Sliding scale fees: Some treatment centers adjust fees based on your income, usually with tax returns or pay stubs as proof.
    • Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): Many employers offer EAPs that provide short-term counseling or partial coverage for treatment, so check with your HR department.
    • Government programs: You may qualify for TennCare or Medicare, and other state-funded programs are available through the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
    • Scholarships and grants: Some community and faith-based organizations offer grants that cover all or part of the cost of rehab for people who meet their criteria.

Many clients use these options for different parts of their stay, such as insurance for the residential weeks and a payment plan for the deductible or for PHP afterward. Ask our team to map each option to each stage of care so your plan holds up for the full length of treatment, not just the first month.

I love this place! I look forward to coming back Freeman Alumni I will forever be greatful for you giving me my life, family, sobriety, and marriage back! I came in and instantly wanted to leave I was scared and assumed how this place was based on looks then I made it to class and met the people and employees and fell in love! Like anywhere else its what you make of it. The EMDR therapy was phenomenal I was not a believer but it was one of the most helpful things I did I also enjoyed the Acupuncture. The only complaint I have is the staff that I loved are no longer there. Please reconsider bringing them back they helped me see the light!

This is my second review. It will be just wonderful as my first. My husband was here last year and they were wonderful. Unfortunately at no fault of anyone there he is now back. This second time they were just as wonderful. They got him a bed the first day he called them. When he arrived they all welcomed him again. No one ever wants to have their family member to have to go through addiction but thank God for people like Freeman who truly care and want nothing but the best. I look forward to watching my husband’s progress and being there every step of the way. Thank you Freeman for caring and not ever giving up.
