Substance Abuse Treatment
At Freeman Recovery Center, we understand that every individual’s battle with substance abuse involves a unique combination of needs. We tailor treatment to address not only addiction and abuse, but also the root cause of the condition, whether it be pain, emotional trauma, or mental illness.
While we do believe in the effectiveness of the 12 Steps in bringing about lasting recovery, we also know there is no single formula which applies to everyone. Effective substance abuse treatment accounts for all aspects of the condition to provide individuals with the ability to heal physically, emotionally, mentally, and psychologically. We offer a variety of treatment options which may include group counseling, psychodrama, meditation, experiential therapy, individual therapy, and more.
We have provided additional details on the specific substance abuse treatments we offer so that guests and their loved ones can better understand the process involved in achieving recovery. Freeman Recovery Center helps individuals to overcome many forms of addiction including alcoholism and drug abuse.
We offer residential and intensive outpatient services to both men and women at our facilities in Dickson, TN near Nashville depending on the individual’s needs. We also offer ongoing support to help those on the path of recovery remain so.
Recovery Methods Used
Individual & Group Therapy
Minimum 2 Visits/Week
Because every person’s struggle with substance abuse differs, individual therapy targets specific triggers, trauma, emotional blocks, and experiences unique to the individual. Group therapy provides visitors with the tools they need to recover while fostering a community of understanding and support. Our group therapies explore many topics including:
- Social skills
- Regulating emotions
- Healthy coping
- And more
Both individual and group therapy are used in combination to help individuals address the root cause of addiction and to treat the emotional, mental, and psychological aspects at work.
Psychodrama & Experiential Therapy
Psychodrama and experiential therapy allows individuals to confront the source of addiction and to understand and process the emotional and spiritual implications of addiction. These therapies also help to build empathy and support regarding:
- Compulsive behaviors
In experiential group therapy, a small group of individuals learn new skills to alter recurring patterns which may result from emotional trauma. The group learns to move beyond behaviors linked to denial or defensive tendencies. In learning to constructively express feelings and voice concerns, they gain the ability to build healthy and lasting relationships.
Every group is guided by a professional counselor licensed by the state of Tennessee.
2-3 hours / 28-day period
Our family program helps individuals and their loved ones work together toward recovery by meeting with a licensed professional counselor for two to three hours. These sessions are held once every 28 days.
Family counseling helps loved ones to understand and work through the emotional complexities of addiction. It also helps families to provide a supportive environment at home to assist the loved one in the recovery process.
